Every month De Fabriek screens an international film with English subtitles. On Wednesday 23 April we screen the stunning French costume drama Le Comte de Monte-Cristo. It is based on the novel of the same name by Alexandre Dumas and has already received several awards, including two Césars. The film has already been a success both domestically and internationally. In France alone, the film attracted over 9 million viewers and is one of the most-watched French films of 2024 worldwide.

The young Edmond Dantès, a victim of a conspiracy, is arrested on his wedding day for a crime he did not commit. After fourteen years of imprisonment in the Château d'If, he manages to escape. He travels to the island of Montecristo, where he discovers a vast treasure. Edmond then decides to return home, and as the Count of Monte Cristo, he sets out to take revenge on the three men who betrayed him.
